Biscuit
Sadly Biscuit is back in with us. After 4 weeks in his new home there was an incident which led to Biscuit biting. While we are aware of the circumstances of the bite, which should have been avoidable, it is not acceptable. His new owners decided they were unable to trust him and he came back to us. We though we were very cautions placing Biscuit but now we are looking for a home where he will not be able to be given a 2nd chance. Any new owners will have to take on board the risk factors. While Biscuit is ok in kennels we will continue to support him but sadly there may come a point, in his best interests, if he can not find a new home we will have to make a decision we try to avoid at all costs.
Biscuit is a medium sized cross was born in August 2018. Please note he is not a border terrier type and has staffie in him. When he came in it is fair to say he was a grumpy boy, he did have a reasonable excuse as his skin was very sore. Once he gets to know you he’s a bit of a softy who likes his tummy tickled. However he is very protective of those he loves so could not go with children or to a busy household. His very temperamental and unpredictable nature with people he does not know must not be underestimated. However he never goes looking for trouble and is the most loyal and loving boy once trust has been built up. He is not a dog that will respond well to having his personal space invaded and under no circumstances should there be face to face contact.
Due to previous skin issues Biscuit is on a RAW diet and this will need to be continued in any new home. It appears to have completely solved any skin issues.
We are looking for an understanding active home where he can learn to relax and enjoy life. He has lived with another dog but we think at least initially while he learns to share he needs to be on his own as he likes to be the center of attention. A quiet household with very limited visitors will be essential. He is fantastic with all animals and would happily live with cats/chickens etc, and loves the company of dogs on a walk but otherwise just ignores them. A home where Biscuit spent the majority of time outside.
We will not rehome Biscuit with resident children, or visiting children under 16. We will not rehome Biscuit to a home where part of his “care plan” would be to rely on others outside the home to look after him on a regular basis. Biscuit must have a garden, and the fence must be at least 5 feet high. He would be a great agility dog as he is super with other dogs and loves the fun of agility. Keeping Biscuit’s mind as well as his body active will pay huge dividends with Biscuit.
Sadly it will take time to introduce Biscuit to any new owner, we expect it will take at least a week of daily visits for him to become friends with someone so due to this any applicants will probably have to live very local to the kennels. We can extend our rehoming area if we feel it is the right home for Biscuit, but please be realistic of what this area might be, taking in to consideration you will need to travel to the kennels regularly for a while. If you feel you have what Biscuit needs please fill in an application form
